The Division of Planning is divided into two areas:
  • Current Planning
    Which handles zoning and land use petitions.

  • Long-Range Planning
    Whose primary responsibility is the preparation of the Comprehensive Plan for Indianapolis/Marion County.

Other functions of the division include land use planning, neighborhood planning, transportation planning, information resources, and policy analysis.
