Welcome to Long-Range Planning!

The Long Range Planning team works to strengthen the people and places of Indianapolis-Marion County by serving as a strategic planning resource for city government and our neighborhoods. We do this by coordinating partners and stakeholders while serving as the catalyst in planning activities related to land use, transportation, parks, resiliency, and neighborhood housing—elements of the Comprehensive Plan for Indianapolis and Marion County. The team also supports a wide array of special planning and visioning initiatives within city government and in collaboration with community partners.

IndyPlan-Parks-Primary.gifThe Indy Parks Comprehensive Master Plan 2016-2021, will be considered for adoption by the Metropolitan Development Commission at its February 1, 2017 public hearing at 1pm in the Public Assembly Room of the City-County Building.  Download the plan.

Request for Qualifications
The City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development is requesting qualifications from interested vendors for professional services to develop a Neighborhood Investment Strategy.  The Neighborhood Investment Strategy (the “Strategy”) will be an element of the Comprehensive Plan for Indianapolis and Marion County that seeks to coordinate public, private, philanthropic, and non-profit community development investments in ways that maximize the impact of each investment on the broader community while being more relevant to the needs of a wide variety of neighborhood conditions.  The Strategy ultimately hopes to grow the population, opportunity, and tax base of Indianapolis and Marion County by sustaining thriving people and places.  Responses to this RFQ are due by 5pm on Thursday February 2, 2017 as detailed in the RFQ.  Download the RFQ.
