2010 INDY HOMELESS CONNECT - March 23, 2010 Please join Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, Pacers coach Jim O’Brien, and representatives from the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP),have announced that the 2010 Indy Homeless Connect will be held on March 23, 2010 at the Indiana Convention Center from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Indy Homeless Connect is a one-day event that provides core services and essential care items to Indianapolis’ homeless population. Parking Request for Qualifications CITY SEEKS PROPOSALS TO INCREASE PARKING EFFICIENCIES Mayor Gregory A. Ballard is seeking experienced companies to respond to a request for qualifications (RFQ) issued February 10, 2010 for a long-term concession arrangement and management contract for the City’s parking system. The City plan envisions combining operation of government parking assets, such as parking lots, metered spaces and garages, under one management company to create efficiencies and savings. INDY COUNTS - Indy Census 2010 Indianapolis, like many communities, has been undercounted in the past, and participation in the 2010 Census is especially important for the city to increase the availability of state, federal and private funding for the community over the next 10 years. Along with funding, decennial Census data is also used to plan health and educational services, enhance underdeveloped areas, improve public transportation and determine government representation. 3.10.10 MAYOR BALLARD ANNOUNCES INNOVATIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH CITIZENS ENERGY GROUP On March 10, Mayor Greg Ballard signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to transfer the City of Indianapolis’ water and wastewater utilities to Citizens Energy Group (Citizens), a public charitable trust operating like a not-for-profit for community benefit. “With this agreement, I am rejecting private ownership of our water and wastewater system while embracing the benefits that come from private sector efficiency and expertise, and putting water and wastewater utilities under a public trust,” Mayor Ballard said. “We look forward to working with the City-County Council and the IURC to complete the transfer and realize benefits for utility customers throughout Central Indiana.” Read More... www.indy.gov/utilities

2.25.10 MAYOR WELCOMES HANGZHOU DELEGATION TO INDIANAPOLIS DELEGATION COMES FOLLOWING MAYOR’S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MISSION IN 2008 Mayor Greg Ballard today met with a delegation of government, cultural and business leaders from Hangzhou, China. Mayor Ballard extended an invitation to the Hangzhou delegation following his 2008 economic development trip to the country. 2.25.10 MAYOR BALLARD NAMES PAUL CIESIELSKI NEW CHIEF OF IMPD; PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR STRAUB ANNOUNCES REORGANIZATION Mayor Greg Ballard has named Paul Ciesielski as chief of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, while Public Safety Director, Dr. Frank Straub, announced other changes to IMPD’s command team. “Paul brings the right mix of command experience, community credibility, and leadership skills to the position of chief of police,” stated Ballard. “He is committed to making Indianapolis a safer place to work, live and raise a family.” Read More...
